We are Empowered Girls Basketball!

Welcome to the Empowered Girls Basketball Team.
Please watch the video to learn about our philosophy and style of team play.

Intent

We focus on player development, empowering young girls so they can find their voice, feel grounded and powerful in their bodies, and increase their self confidence. They will learn how be part of a team and work toward something larger than they are.

We are very receptive to parent and player desires and needs and will be adjusting the number of tournaments we attend based on the amount of travel parents and players are wanting.

We will be playing in the 14 and under and 13 and under division in tournaments.

Practices

We will practice 3 times a week depending on gym availability. Practices will be Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays in the evenings. We understand that your lives are busy and we ask that you try and make most of the practices offered.

The Season

Players can be on the team and travel with the team to tournaments, and play in games and scrimmages. Or they can be a “Redshirt” meaning they can participate in the practices but they don’t participate in the scrimmages, games, or tournaments.

The 2024 season runs January through May. During this season we will play in 1 or 2 tournaments each month depending on the desires of the parents and the scheduling of vacations during the summer.

We will be playing in the huge tournament in Reno Nevada called the “Memorial Day Tournament” May 25-26-27. (We will go to the event in Hawaii in 2025.)

Club Director

Ben Saltzman is the club director and head coach of the team. Please reach out to him with any questions.

Fees for the Season

There are club teams that cost $4,000-$5,000 for the season and practice 4-5 days a week. We have heard that this level of time and money investment is too high for most of our players and families so we made an effort to keep costs low.

Players will pay $600 to join the team and $195 a month for the next five months.

This covers:

  • equipment
  • AAU club fees
  • logistics support
  • 2 or 3 practices per week
  • videos teaching skills and concepts
  • coaches time at practices and logistics

Additional fees to consider as you plan for the season:

  • Become an AAU member $16-$20
  • Your uniform $60-$80
  • Your Tournament fees: These fees cover the cost to enter tournaments and the coaches time and travel expenses. $80 for one day tournaments, $150 per 2 day tournament, $$200 for three day events.
  • Your “Team Empowered” sweats shirts and sweat pants: $80-$120
  • Your travel, and hotels for the tournaments that are not in the Bay Area.

Payments are non-refundable.

Players that Redshirt will not need to purchase a Uniform or pay for tournaments or travel. They can purchase “Team Empowered” sweatshirts and sweat pants.

So the team can get a feel for your player, and your player can get a feel for the team, let’s have them practice with the team a couple of times and find out if they should be on the red shirt team or the traveling team.

Please signup for AAU so you’re ensured before you come to practice.

Coach Ben, Coach Frank, Coach Scott, and Coach Raj

“After doing shadow work with Ben, I brought in over $165,000 in sales at my 3-day event, I asked for (and got!) double the offered advance on my new book and, for the first time ever, I’m actually saving 20% of my income each month. Best of all, I feel more open, relaxed and confident than ever before.”

"Change is when we learn a new skill or useful new information; transformation is when we reorganize at a deeper level, a new platform for a whole new approach to lifelong learning and growth. You'll get both with Ben Salzman. The work is immediately practical and ultimately spiritual -- new connections, new capacities, new power and freedom in living."
