We are Empowered Girls Basketball!
Welcome to the Empowered Girls Basketball Team.
Please watch the video to learn about our philosophy and style of team play.
Intent
We focus on player development, empowering young girls so they can find their voice, feel grounded and powerful in their bodies, and increase their self confidence. They will learn how be part of a team and work toward something larger than they are.
We are very receptive to parent and player desires and needs and will be adjusting the number of tournaments we attend based on the amount of travel parents and players are wanting.
We will be playing in the 12 and under and 13 and under division in tournaments.
Practices
We will practice 2-3 times a week depending on gym availability. Practices will be Wednesdays from 6-8pm at Branciforte Middle School, Fridays 4:30-6:30pm at Enterprise Gym, and Saturdays from 4-6pm at Branciforte Middle School. We ask that you try and make at least two of the practices offered.
The Season
Players can be on the team and travel with the team to tournaments, and play in games and scrimmages. Or they can be a Redshirt meaning they can participate in the practices but they don’t participate in the scrimmages, games, or tournaments.
The 2023 season runs through August 20th. During this season we will play in 1 or 2 tournaments each month depending on the desires of the parents and the scheduling of vacations during the summer.
We will be playing in the huge tournament in Reno Nevada called the “Memorial Day Tournament” May 27-28-29 and the Las Vegas “West Coast Championships” July 13-16.
Club Director
Ben Saltzman is the club director and head coach of the team. Please reach out to him with any questions.
Fees
There are club teams that cost $4,000-$5,000 for the season and practice 4-5 days a week. We have heard that this level of time and money investment is too high for most of our players and families so we made an effort to keep costs low.
Players will pay $500 to join the team and $175 a month for the next three months.
This covers:
- equipment
- your uniform
- AAU club fees
- logistics support
- a practice jersey
- 2 or 3 practices per week
- videos teaching skills and concepts
Payments are non-refundable.
Additional fees to consider as you plan for the season:
- Become an AAU member $16-$20
- Your Tournament fees: $75-$95 per 2 day tournament, $60-$75 for one day tournaments.
- Your “Team Empowered” sweats shirts and sweat pants: $80-$100
- Your travel, and hotels for the tournaments that are not in the Bay Area.
Players that Redshirt will not need to purchase a Uniform or pay for tournaments or travel. They can purchase “Team Empowered” sweatshirts and sweat pants.scheduling of vacations during the summer.
We will be playing in the huge tournament in Reno Nevada called the “Memorial Day Tournament” May 27-28-29 and the Las Vegas “West Coast Championships” July 13-16.
